    Dear Society members,

You are cordially invited to attend the annual General Members Meeting of the Society for Japanese Art, to be held at the Scheltema Complex in Leiden, from 14.00 hours on May 26.

This year we have invited three museum curators  to each reflect on their acquisition policies, their attitude to donations to their respective departments, their exhibition plans and the way that they see future developments within the museums their fields of expertise.

The board came up with this theme because we are an association with many collectors. In doing so, we should keep in mind that almost all museum institutions depend and have depended in the past on donations of collections or individual pieces. But collectors who donate their treasures would like to know how the receiving museums will use these donations in their collections, in exhibitions or for research.

Marije Jansen, curator of Japanese Prints at the Rijksmuseum, Menno Fitski, Head of Asian Art at the Rijksmuseum, and Daan Kok, curator Japan and Korea at the Wereldmuseum, Leiden will be the speakers.

Please note that this interesting part of the General Assembly PRECEDES the handling of the annual mandatory agenda items. At the very end, drinks will be served.

All relevant documents relating to the General Members Meeting will be posted on the website.
